`Rohingya crisis is not solely a BD problem, it is an international problem’

Speaker Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury has said, Bangladesh wants voluntary, safe, peaceful and sustainable repatriation of Rohingyas through bilateral discussions and with the support of the international community. 

She said this while addressing an international conference as the chief discussant and exchanged views with experts on Rohingya issues in Paris on Friday, said a Parliament Secretariat handout on Saturday. The France-Bangladesh Friendship Group arranged the international conference on ‘Rohingya situation in Myanmar and Bangladesh’ at the National Assembly of France. The Speaker attended the conference at the invitation of France Parliament.

Bangladeshi Right Activist Dr C R Abrar, professor of international relations at the University of Dhaka in Bangladesh and Coordinator of the Refugee and Migratory Movements Research Unit has interviewed with the Radio France International after the Rohingya Seminar at the French National Assembly. In this interview, Dr Abrar mentioned that Rohingya crisis is not solely a Bangladesh problem, it is an international problem.

Delegates from across the world met at the French National Assembly in Paris to discuss solutions for the one million Rohingyas who fled Myanmar and are now refugees in neighbouring Bangladesh. Noted Human Rights Activists, academics, lawyers and politicians examined different ways to address the Rohingya crisis.
